Training with Dan Shapiro at Bala Cynwyd has been a game changer for me! Dan is incredibly passionate, has great energy, friendly, focused and totally committed, he genuinely cares about helping me achieve my fitness goals. I had knee surgery less than a year ago; from day one Dan has been tuned in to what my body needed! Proper form, strength, and mobility. Dan has helped me rebuild my knee safely! I can not thank him enough for pushing me past what I thought my limits where. I don't wear my brace anymore, I am stronger, and am becoming more confident! I highly recommend Dan as a personal trainer! EVERY session is progress.

I gave this review one star, since zero stars is not an option. My wife charged a membership period to her Capital One credit card last year. Because they charged a premium of $35 for the charge, she advised them that she would pay by check in the future and to please destroy her credit card information, which they agreed to do. Today, upon routinely checking her Capital One account, I found two charges from AFC for $87.13 each, one that had already cleared and one that was still pending. This is NOT the first time that AFC has fraudulently charged her card. The first time, we allowed them to correct the situation, which took over a week. This time, we called Capital One to report the two fraudulent charges and then called the club to report the situation. Naturally, the person that we needed to speak to was unavailable; we were told that they would call back. True to form, over an hour later, we're still waiting for the call. At this point they can call or not; the fraudulent charges have been reported and Capital One will take charge now. Please know that this NOT a reflection on her personal trainer, who is truly a wonderful guy and is not involved with any payment actions. Nice how they just reach into your pocket and steal your money.

The gym looks great. Unfortunately I never got to use it! The wild waste of my time with crappy sales techniques was not great. I made it very clear from the first text message I do not live here full time and needed monthly. Instead of simply saying they don’t offer that, I was absorbed into a massive waste of time for myself and the people trying to make a sale. There were lots of pieces but I will spare the details 🙄. It looks like a lovely facility but maybe just send folk your complex pricing from the beginning, especially when they ask, instead of a long bait and switch process.

AFC Bala is a nice gym with great equipment. The members and staff create a very welcoming community that keeps you wanting to come back. They have some pretty great features as well, like the steam room and the sauna. I’ve been working with Isaiah and I have had nothing but a great experience working with him. The team really seems to care about you and wants to help you achieve your goals. Highly recommend.
